Coaching Through Ambition

Some races have a peculiar kind of finish line.
You spend years running toward something you are certain will feel like arrival. The degree. The promotion. The title. The salary. The business milestone that once seemed almost impossibly far away.
You cross the line.
Perhaps you celebrate. Perhaps you feel proud. Perhaps you look around for a moment and think, I did it.
And then something curious happens.
The finish line becomes another starting line.
There is another opportunity. Another version of yourself you could become.
Ambition can work like that.
Not because ambitious people are incapable of satisfaction, or because wanting more is evidence that something is missing. There is tremendous energy in wanting to grow, build, contribute, master something difficult, or discover what we're capable of.
Some people genuinely love the race.
The interesting question for coaching isn't whether they should.
It's whether they are still choosing where they're running.
